'I talk to the dead - bad spirits target homes with common decoration outside'

People have been warned that one innocent piece of house decor could lead to something unsettling, such as 'something' targeting their house. It might seem friendly, but a paranormal investigator said most don't know what they're truly letting themselves in for.

Leah (@psychicleah) previously took to her TikTok page to warn people about the paranormal dangersof having a mirror in your bedroom. She specifically told people that having one that faces your bed—such as mirrored wardrobes—could have something or someone 'that isn't particularly nice' waiting on the other side.

She claimed that ignoring this sage advice could lead to something unwanted making its way into your home and settling in to stay. However, her precautions didn't just cover the inside of the house—she also had a few golden rules for people to follow when it comes to their home entrances.

In a video, she claimed there are three things that people should never do when it comes to having a front door. Leah said one might seem harmless enough, but she claims that it's a literal signal to anything that may have bad intentions.

She explained: "Never, ever have a 'welcome' mat outside your front door. You are simply allowing in any good or negative spirits."

In some beliefs, a 'welcome' mat might be interpreted as an open invitation for any entity, including harmful spirits, to enter a home. This is because the 'welcome' appears to be vague and is not explicitly conditional on who is permitted to enter the home.

Her next bit of advice might seem obvious, but the simple mistake could open the floodgates for any being to sneakily drift into your home. She said: "If you hear knocking at the front door and you look through the little peephole and no one's there, do not open the door. If this is a negative entity, you have just allowed that into your home."

Leah, who claims on her TikTok feed to be a psychic medium and demonologist, told her followers that the front door is an "energetic boundary". She added that some people may be allowing in all sorts of negative energy and entities without even realising.

She also had one more crucial rule for anyone about to carry out a major cleaning job. She said: "Never sweep your dust from within your house outside the front door. It is said that if you do this, you are removing all of the good luck and prosperity from within your home."

Leah confirmed that it's not harmful to do this from your back door, and it won't be a risk to sweep items or dust into a pile and carry it out of the door yourself, but direct sweeping should be avoided. With all these warnings, Leah did offer one piece of protection that anyone concerned about the paranormal could do to protect their home.

She said: "Putting salt down... right by the front door wards off any negative entities and any spirits that do not need to be in your home."
